Innolux foraying into smart window applications

Innolux has teamed up with upstream suppliers, including Corning and Merck, to develop smart window products using liquid crystal technology.

The company is currently highlighting its smart window solutions at the Smart City Summit & Expo 2021 in Taipei from March 23-26. It showcases two lineups of smart window solutions: smart light control windows and projection windows.

Its smart windows feature fast response rates, wide transmittance ranges (0.5%-70%), high energy savings, no color cast, and limitless in size, the company said in a statement.

With smart sensors and IoT technology, the transparency of smart windows could be adjusted freely, it said. The technology can apply to various products, including large-size French windows, Venetian blinds, and automotive products.

The projection windows feature Innolux’s smart film products that can quickly flip between transparent and translucent modes for projection and privacy needs. It is ideal for business projectors, glass partitions in offices, and large-size advertisements on commercial buildings and department stores, Innolux said. DigiTimes
