Chinese handset vendor Xiaomi has also emerged as the largest smart TV brand in China by leveraging the strategy of high price-performance ratios, outracing many veteran peer brands including Skyworth, Hisense, TCL, Changhong, and Konka.
Statistics from China Market Monitor show that following several years of efforts, Xiaomi has ranked as top vendor of smart TVs in China for three straight quarters, and sales of Mi TVs soared past 10 million units in 2019, setting a new milestone in China’s TV market.
The impressive sales were partly contributed by the brand’s launch of new flagship TV models in 2019 and partly driven by collective sales of a variety of products including handsets, watches, vacuum cleaners, air purifiers and electric bikes supplied by member makers in the Xiaomi ecosystem.
Besides domestic market sales, Xiaomi has also been aggressively developing overseas sales of its TV products along with handsets. After becoming the top handset brand in the India market, Xiaomi has also developed into a TV market leader there. IDC statistics showed that Xiaomi commanded a 33% share of the India TV market in third-quarter 2019, compared to 14% for Samsung and 13% for LG. Digitimes
