We Will Invest More In Tamilnadu: Samsung Sr VP

“We are the number one television brand in Tamilnadu with 30 percent market share and the southern State is one of our leading markets where we will continue to invest,” said Raju Pullan, senior vice-president, consumer electronics, Samsung India.

He was talking to News Today in New Delhi, on the sidelines of the launch of the company’s new offering- Smart TVs under ‘Unbox Magic’ series.

“We see huge potential in Tamilnadu where the penetration of smart TVs is increasing. Not just those in urban centres, but people in rural areas too are showing keen interest to buy smart televisions. We can see demand from Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and other regions and we are ready to meet that. We have a strong retail and service network and we will delight TN customers with the best of products, service and finance options.”

According to Pullan, the “Unbox Magic” series will further increase the market share of Samsung. Asked what is the projected figure, he replied: “I can’t tell you what exactly do we expect. But, the next time when we meet, I am sure the market share would have increased and I will be able to share you the numbers.”

Stating that the new series of televisions from Samsung have industry first ‘unique benefits’ such as Personal Computer, Music System, Home Cloud, Live Cast and Two Way Sharing, the SVP said the TV line up along with these never-seen-before benefits will redefine the term “smart” in smart TVs and take home entertainment experience to a whole new level. ‘These benefits empower the consumers to experience a world beyond a conventional television. All the benefits are designed under our ‘Make for India’ philosophy, keeping in mind the evolving needs of the Indian consumers on how they interact with their television and other smart devices,’ he said.

The new range of TVs starts from 32-inch priced at Rs 24,900 and is available across screen sizes upto 82-inch. While the “Home Cloud” feature allows users to save photos and videos from their smartphones to a password-protected USB drive connected to the TV, “Live Cast” lets consumers stream live moments from any remote location on to their Smart TVs over the Internet via their smartphones.

The ‘Two Way Sharing’ enables users to share content between the Smart TVs and smartphones. The TVs also come with ‘Smart Hub’ that gives consumers single access to live TV, apps and other sources.

And, with the “Personal Computer” feature, a keyboard and mouse combo can be hooked up to the TV and be used to launch commonly used office applications.―News Today
