Super Plastronics launches Kodak TV range in India, aims for Rs 700 crore revenue

Super Plastronics (SSPL) has launched Kodak CA Series of Android TVs in India. It will sell the TVs on Flipkart at a starting price of Rs 23,999. The company is targeting a turnover of 700 crore for FY 2020-21. SPPL is Kodak’s brand licensee in India and is the only brand licensee in India that has partnered with Google, to make in India.

SPPL also said that it aims for a 100 percent growth in volume sales in 2020 as compared to 60 percent growth in 2019. The current market share of Kodak HD LED TVs in Indian television market is four cent percent.

Dolby Vision technology

The new series will come in four variants including 109.22 cm (43 inches), 127 cm (50 inches), 139.7 cm (55 inches), and 165.1 cm (65) inches. They are equipped with Dolby Vision technology along with 4K HDR 10 support, They come with official Android TV based on Android 9.0 Pie and support Google Assistant. The TVs have dedicated hotkeys for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Google Play Store. In terms of audio, they come with DTS TruSurround sound technology along with Dolby Digital Plus. In terms of connectivity, they support USB 3.0, HDMI ARC/CEC and Bluetooth v.5.0.

USD 231 billion by 2026

According to Acumen Research and consulting, the global android TV market size is expected to reach around $231 billion by 2026 with a CAGR of around 20 percent during the forecast period of 2019-2026.
