Sony Announces EU Pricing For AF9 OLED And ZF9 LCD

The new flagship TVs from Sony will be less expensive than feared. AF9 OLED starts at €2999 / £2999 while ZF9 LCD starts at €2999/£3799. Sony will launch its most advanced OLED and LCD TVs to date in Europe this October. The Master TVs were unveiled in late July. At IFA 2018, Sony has released pricing details.

A 55-inch AF9 OLED will cost €2999/£2999 while the 65-inch will cost €3999/£3999, which is less expensive than we had anticipated.

Strangely, the 65-inch ZF9 LCD will be far more expensive in the UK than elsewhere in Europe. In the UK, a 65-inch ZF9 will set you back £3799 and the larger 75-inch version will cost £4999. This compares to €2999 and €4999, respectively in Germany.

Both TV ranges feature 4K resolution, three HDR formats (HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision), Android TV, CalMAN auto calibration, and Netflix Calibrated mode. They are part of the Master series that represents the best from Sony. The AF9 OLED also features Acoustic Surface+, which uses the actual OLED panel as a 3-channel speaker membrane.

The new flagship TVs from Sony will compete head-to-head with OLED TVs from LG, Panasonic, and Philips as well as flagship LCD TVs from Samsung. At IFA 2018, LG and Samsung have announced the next step with 8K OLED and 8K LCD.

Sony AF9 and ZF9 will be among the highlights from Sony at the IFA 2018 show in Berlin. The TVs will be available in Europe from October. – Flat Panels HD
