Internet revolution has changed the way we live our lives, it has deeply influenced and impacted day-to-day life. Easy and very economical access to internet has triggered demand for smart TVs. Wybor has also witnessed great surge in demand of smart TV range across all sizes. Now it seems every household wants to have a smart TV to watch newly introduced popular web-series and exclusive contents from CDNs like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, and Viu, among others.

Market trends

There has been a humongous increase in demand for large size display panels, surprisingly these demands are coming from all markets, be it metros, Tier-II, Tier-III, and also from rural markets. Easy access and affordable charges for internet brings the demand and increase in consumer base of internet connections across India. It is expected that by 2022, 90 percent of the Indian households will be internet-enabled. Wybor is all geared up to meet the demand for smart TVs and incorporating all new features like artificial intelligence, voice interactive controls (talk and play) where remote control acts as a mic and controls TV to voice commands. Wybor LED TV models new smart features are already ruling the shelves in the marketplace.

Challenges and opportunities

Earlier, Indian flat TV market used to be dominated by big brands which offered their FPD products at a premium price, but in last 2 years, the scenario has drastically changed as there has been emergence of new brands which are hugely affecting the core dynamics of LED TV market because of their aggressive pricing and having similar features as compared to their bigger counterparts. There has been a high acceptance of these brands among consumers. The Indian LED TV market is also impacted by importers and opportunist fly-by-night con operators who create confusion among the customers and greatly damage the interest of legitimate players in the industry.

The government should impose tight controls on these traders who are evading custom duties and GST by misdeclaration in value of important components like open cells and PCBs used in manufacturing LED TVS. Many small traders have infiltrated Indian e-commerce platforms by offering dirt-cheap pricing to lure the innocent and unsuspecting customers who later suffer due to non-availability of after-sales service and proper customer care during warranty period. It is believed that the existence of these fraudulent and unscrupulous traders will end soon as government is going to take adequate and strong steps to stop their unethical practices to save Indian LED TV manufacturers and end their miseries.

There has been a continuous decline in prices of FPDs across all sizes. Globally, bigger sizes have witnessed great reduction in prices. Now in the Indian market 32-inch (80 cm) LED TV is available for less than Rs 10,000 for the customers and smart TV is available for Rs 12,500 with all features. Wybor has introduced 2-3 models in 32-inch (80 cm) segment which is creating a lot of buzz in the market. The company is also planning to launch many feature rich new models in coming days.

Distribution and future strategies

Wybor will continue to expand its network and will have a pan India sales network. At present Wybor products are available in 18 states through more than 300 distributors and more than 5000 resellers and still counting. Wybor is ready with its new advertisement campaign which will be launched in press, TV channels, digital platforms, and outdoor media.
