Air purifiers sale in 2019 were on a growth trajectory. Rising air pollution, especially during Diwali season led to higher sales as against 2018. However, proliferation of air purifiers will still remain low as these are products are not cost-effective. Hence, they are far from becoming a necessity in the lower-and middle-income households. Sales usually gain momentum in the winter season, but we expect negligible sales this year because of the pandemic. The lockdown situation has lowered the pollution levels drastically, which will lead to a dismal year for air purifiers. Manufacturers also do not seem to be hyped for this festive season.
