Prosecutors demand fine of KRW70mn on Samsung Vice Chairman for Illegal propofol use

Prosecutors have demanded a fine of 70 million won on Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-yong for violating the Narcotics Control Act by illegally using propofol, a psychotropic drug.

At a trial held at the Seoul Central District Court on Oct. 12, prosecutors also requested the court to collect an additional fee of 17.02 million won from Lee.

Lee was accused of having routinely taken propofol for purposes other than medical treatments at a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam, Seoul.

“I apologize for causing trouble and anxiety with my personal matters,” Lee said in his final statement. “I did all of it for treatment, but I deeply regret and will not do it again.” BusinessKorea
