It’s been a while since we last talked about the rumored OnePlus TV. Last September was when OnePlus founder, Pete Lau, talked about the company’s plans to build a TV. Now, things are getting a little more serious as the company’s TV has appeared on the Bluetooth SIG website. The listing gives us more details about this upcoming device.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the OnePlus TV appears to run Android TV. The Bluetooth SIG listing describes the TV as a “unique Android TV.” It will be interesting to see if OnePlus launches the TV with Android Pie, which recently rolled out to the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV. We’ll have to wait and see what makes it “unique.”
Next, the listing reveals that this will be an LED TV and it will support Bluetooth 5.0. Lau previously revealed that the OnePlus TV would feature a 4K LED display, but now we have technical confirmation. So how big will the display be? The listing includes nearly 40 different model numbers with several potential screen sizes.
40 model numbers doesn’t mean there will be 40 unique OnePlus TVs. These model numbers pertain to the screen size and region. For example, the model number “43Q2IN” suggests a 43-inch display intended for India. Similarly, “65Z3US” suggests a 65-inch model headed to the US. There are four screen sizes in total: 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch. The 43-inch model looks to be exclusive to India, while the 75-inch may be only for the US and China.
The OnePlus TV is shaping up to be an intriguing offering. Personally, I prefer set-top boxes over integrated smart TVs, but if the TV specs alone are great, this could be an excellent Android TV option. As with all OnePlus devices, pricing will be a big part of the deal. Are you exciting about the OnePlus TV?―XDA-Developers
