Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) India has promoted Aditya Mehta as head – corporate strategy. Mehta will now plan and manage the development and review of all aspects of business strategy at SPN. Key aspects of the role would include a strategic road-map for the long-term and implementation of it, identifying business growth opportunities and business expansion (organic or via mergers and acquisitions), evaluating operating plans for each business unit, and monitoring execution of key milestones. Besides growth and expansion, he had earlier worked on some key content acquisition deals such as media rights for Cricket Australia, England, and Wales Cricket Board, and other key sports and non-sports rights. Some notable strategic initiatives include the acquisition of Ten Sports from ZEEL, joint venture with BBC, re-entry of ESPN in India and Kids channel foray. With a career spanning over 14 years, Mehta’s expertise lies in corporate strategy, business-scaling and evaluation, content strategy, operational execution, strategic and financial analysis.
Amit Dhanuka has been appointed as executive vice president of Lionsgate in India, to drive the growth of Lionsgate and Starz brands in the country. Previously responsible for Star India’s direct-to-home (DTH) affiliate sales division, Dhanuka has also held positions at Sony Pictures Television International in LA, and at Indian production companies E-City Films and Zee Motion Pictures. Dhanuka is looking forward to bringing Indian audiences original, premium, and bold content that aligns with Lionsgate and Starz’s mission of creating content that cuts through the clutter.
