Micromax-Owned YU Could Enter The Indian TV Market With 32-Inch YUPHORIA S LCD TV

After almost a year long hiatus, Micromax sub-brand YU launched the entry-level YU Ace smartphone in India last month. It now appears the brand is all set to make its foray into the Indian TV market with a range of LCD TVs. The first YU-branded TV was recently registered with the Bureau of Indian Standards, which is the country’s national standards body.
YU to Soon Enter Indian TV Market With 32YUPHORIA S
The Micromax sub-brand registered the 32 YUPHORIA S LCD TV with the BIS earlier this week. Going by the model number of the television, it is quite clear that the TV will have a 32-inch sized panel. No other information regarding the TV is currently available, also the listing on the BIS website does make it very clear that YU will soon be launching the 32 YUPHORIA S. In addition to the 32-inch YUPHORIA S, there is a good chance that the Micromax sub-brand will be launching at least one or two other models as well. While YU is gearing up to launch its first TVs, Micromax had entered the Indian TV market in 2016 with an aim to capture 5 percent market share. With Micromax steadily losing market share in the smartphone market, it looks like company now plans to further increase its focus on the TV market.
Will YU’s entry make a difference?
The Indian TV market is currently flooded with brands offering feature-rich products at highly competitive prices, mainly in the entry-level segment. Whether or not YU will be able to help Micromax boost its market share in the Indian TV market will ultimately depend on how good the products are. Of course, the company will also need to get the pricing right. Micromax currently sells quite a few 32-inch LCD TVs in the sub-Rs. 20,000 segment. It also offers a few premium models that cost over Rs. 25,000. As of now, we are not sure if the 32-inch YU YUPHORIA S TV will be priced closer to the entry-level Micromax models or if it will be a slightly more premium offering. Since there is no information available regarding the TV currently, all we can do is wait until YU officially announces its first TV for the Indian market.― MySmartPrice
