LG Electronics was host to more than 200 distribution and retail partners from Asia for its seventh annual InnoFest roadshow at a lavish home on Sydney’s lower north shore.
Held for the first time in Sydney, LG demonstrated its latest and upcoming suite of AI-enabled appliances compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, with LG ThinQ, LG Signature and its 2019 home entertainment range at the core of the new connected LG Home concept.
LG Electronics Australia general manager of marketing, Angus Jones said, “LG Home is a welcome opportunity to see how our products connect in an Australian home environment and effortlessly fit around our daily routines to make life better.”
The highlight for the exclusive media experience was the LG 2019 television range with intelligent upgrades, larger screen sizes and easier access to content. Leading the line-up is the LG 88-inch 8K Z9 OLED TV, due to land in Australian retailers in the second half of 2019.
Ahead of the 8K Z9 OLED TV launch, the company will introduce three new LG AI ThinQ OLED TV models to the range. Available in sizes from 55 to 77- inches, the range includes:
Picture-on-Wall W9 Wallpaper TV (77-inch RRP $19,999 and 65-inch RRP $9,999)
Picture-on-Glass E9 OLED TV (65-inch RRP $7,099 and 55-inch for RRP $4,299), and
Cinema Screen C9 OLED TV (77-inch RRP $15,999, 65-inch RRP $6,399 and 55-inch RRP $3,899)
“We are continuing to push boundaries with our roster of home entertainment products in 2019 by introducing bigger, better and smarter TVs than our previous range. LG OLED TVs produce perfect blacks and a stunning visual experience – and this year with the added AI benefits embedded in these models, viewers will truly get the best visual experience that LG has to offer,” Jones said.
The Alpha 9 Gen 2 Intelligent Processor is at the heart of the new OLED TV range, offering enhanced picture and sound experience. Developed with Artificial Intelligence, LG’s deep learning technology optimizes the viewing experience based on the source content and the context in which it is being viewed.
Furthermore, LG continues to integrate 4K Cinema HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for an immersive home entertainment experience.
LG said its OLED R TV will be available outside Australia soon but the company is still assessing interest from Australian retailers.
LG Super UHD TVs
The 2019 LG AI ThinQ Super UHD TV range, the company’s premium LED/LCD TV line-up, now offers larger screen sizes.
Available in sizes from 49 to 86 -inches in a sleek form factor with ultra-thin bezels, equipped with Nano Cell technology, the three models in the 2019 range include:
SM94 (86-inch RRP $10,999, 75-inch RRP $7,899 and 65-inch RRP $5,399)
SM86 (75-inch RRP $5,299, 65-inch RRP $3,599 and 55-inch RRP $2,499)
SM81(65-inch RRP $2,999, 55-inch RRP $2,199 and 49-inch RRP $1,999)
Features of the LG Super UHD range include Full Array Dimming and Full Array Dimming Pro to produce deeper blacks, Dolby Vision and Atmos integration and the Alpha 7 Gen 2 Intelligent Processor.
Voice assistant integration
LG has improved its AI ThinQ ecosystem for 2019, now offering consumers the ability to access Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa (when available) via the LG Magic Remote or compatible smart device.
Later this year, 2019 LG TVs will also receive a software upgrade to support Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple Home Kit, followed by a firmware update that will add Amazon Alexa support to complement Google Assistant. This integration makes LG the only TV brand to talk directly to both leading AI platforms without additional hardware.
LG Soundbar range expands
LG will roll out seven soundbar models to local retailers from April from the SL4Y entry model (RRP $399) to the premium SL10YG (RRP $1,699), extending its partnership with high-resolution audio pioneers, Meridian with three LG soundbars equipped with Meridian audio integration.
Meridian’s bass and space technology, which creates distortion free tones and powerful bass, is accompanied by image elevation technology, which virtually raises the presence of the soundstage for a more life-like cinematic experience. Further, Meridian’s Upmix technologies takes two-channel audio and virtual upgrades to create a multi-channel experience.
“The breadth of the new range meets a growing demand for high-end soundbar products that provide high-fidelity sound, a premium aesthetic and cutting-edge connectivity. 2019 LG soundbars are versatile, stylish and aspirational – and will upgrade the home cinema experience to a new level,” LG’s Angus Jones said.
The LG SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG also support Dolby Atmos, which creates a multi-directional, true to life and immersive sound experience. An advanced sound processing algorithm allows the premium soundbars to enhance conventional audio to a three-dimensional experience.
