Google Assistant will be available in Canada, Australia and the UK, with support coming to South Korea, Spain, France and Germany by the end of the year. The ThinQ TV sets, which were integrated in May with Google’s digital assistant in the US, have since also added support for Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa.
ThinQ runs on LG’s webOS and can be used for specific content-related commands, for example searching for a film’s soundtrack. Google Assistant will also offer the ability to manage daily tasks, search for the weather forecast or sports results, or control compatible smart home devices through their TV.
To enable the roll-out, the voice recognition system will support German, French, Spanish and Korean as well as English.
The LG TVs will be able to connect to Google’s translation, map and other services in different languages. Customers can also create a schedule on Google Calendar via their TV. – Rapid TV News
