Japan Display Inc (JDI) has announced it has developed a prototype micro LED display, a strong candidate to become a next-generation mainstream display technology, and it will be exhibited at FIinTech Japan 2019 in Makuhari Messe during December 4-6.
JDI said the prototype realizes a micro LED display with high brightness and wide viewing angles, applying the LTPS backplane technology developed by the company.
The micro LED display no longer requires the backlight, polarizer and color filter that are required in LCD.
The display uses micro LED chips from Glo, a startup established in Silicon Valley in 2010 with full in-house development capability building micro LED panels on both LTPS and Si backplanes, said JDI. Digitimes
