HannStar Display, which makes mainly small- to medium-size LCD panels, saw its May revenues jump 123% on year to NT$2.82 billion (US$101.52 million). The figures were also up 2.3% from the previous month.
Its shipments of small- to medium-size panels reached 35.14 million units, down 3.8% sequentially. However, shipments for large-size and own-brand applications totaled 269,000 units, increasing 53.7% from a year earlier.
HannStar also reported net profit of NT$976 million for April, driven by rising prices for medium-size panels amid robust demand supporting stay-at-home activities, said the company.
By optimizing its 5.3G LCD capacity for small- and medium-size applications, the company has rolled out integrated display solutions that combine IPS Pro wide viewing with on-cell or in-cell touch technologies.
It also utilizes 0.25t ultra-thin glass substrates and IGD (integration gate driver) technology to develop integrated ultra-thin, high-resolution panels for niche market applications, HannStar said. DigiTimes
