Hitachi Air-Conditioning India Ltd. (JCH-IN) has announced the appointment of Gurmeet Singh as the new Chairman and Managing Director. He will be the first Indian to become the Chairman and Managing Director of the India unit of the Joint Venture of Global Air Conditioning majors- Johnson Controls, US and Hitachi, Japan.
Starting 1stFeb’18, Gurmeet will be taking the reins from Franz Cerwinka, Chairman, JCH-IN and Global CEO, JCH. He has been previously appointed as the Managing Director of the company and post a Board Meeting held on 30th Jan’18, he has been designated as the Chairman and Managing Director of JCH-IN unanimously.
Having a diversified experience in various industries like FMCG and Consumer Durables (Televisions, Fans, Air Conditioners, Refrigerators and Washing Machines), Gurmeet has played a vital role in turning around Hitachi’s business over the years.
Currently, he is also the President of RAMA (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Manufacturers Association) and Executive Committee member of CEAMA(Consumer electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association). He has also won the“Man of Appliances” award by CEAMA for his outstanding contribution to the appliances industry. In his capacity as the president of RAMA, he is interacting very closely with various government bodies in the policy formation activities which will impact the entire Air Conditioning Industry.He has been actively involved in driving the Smart and Energy Efficient Inverter ACs movement in the Indian AC industry and looking at his contribution to organization and the industry, his appointment in a much bigger role ensures a brighter future for the brand.
He has also been working very closely with ISHRAE to promote their Student Engagement Program, AQUEST since the last 3 years. In the bargain, he has created opportunities for young professionals to have a closer look at Air Conditioning Industry.
