GE Appliances-backed co-creation community FirstBuild has scheduled to open its India hub in Hyderabad at T-Works in 2018 with a focus on IoT and connected technologies in appliances manufacturing. The company seeks to engage with T-Works and the maker community in knowledge sharing, skills development and community driven open-platform innovation. FirstBuild has decided to set up its India operations at after evaluating options across multiple cities.
The agreement was signed by Sujai Karampuri, Director Electronics, and Chandramouli Vijjhala, Chief Information Officer, GE Appliances India in the presence of Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao. FirstBuild, based out of Louisville, Kentucky, is a global co-creation community that harnesses the brainpower of the maker movement to change the way major home appliances are conceived, designed, and manufactured. It speeds the production process and enables customization through small batch production and risks of traditional mass manufacturing.
The FirstBuild India as well as Kentucky and China locations will collaborate and access a global online community managed by Giddy. Giddy will, in turn, continue to grow the community FirstBuild has built over the past 3.5 years and leverage it to assist all of its clients.
