A town hall meeting will feature information about the status of the Foxconn project and solicit feedback from community members. The meeting is hosted by State Sen. Caleb Frostman, D-Sturgeon Bay, and Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh.
The Foxconn Technology Group is getting about USD 4 billion in tax breaks to develop a manufacturing complex in Wisconsin. Foxconn’s first factory is under construction in Mount Pleasant and the company is planning to create 13,000 jobs with an average annual wage of USD 53,875. Support for the project has divided along political party lines with Republican’s supporting and promoting the Foxconn project, while Democrats question the future impact on taxes and the environment.
“This town hall event will offer local residents an opportunity to meet with state lawmakers, learn more about taxpayer liabilities and comment on recently identified environmental risks,” the news release said.— Greenbay Press Gazette
