The government is working towards a strategy to promote domestic manufacturers, as US retail giant Walmart takes control of homegrown e-commerce firm Flipkart, to become the country’s largest e-commerce operator in India.
The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), is giving final touches to the draft e-commerce policy, which is expected to be finalized soon. Last week, top e-tailers including Snapdeal, Amazon, Pepperfry, among others, met government officials to discuss various aspects of the proposed e-commerce policy.— Moneycontrol
