Flat panel makers AU Optronics (AUO) and Innolux will step up their recruitment efforts in 2019 as they are enhancing deployments in the next-generation display technology for penetrating into segments including mini LED, 3D sensing, super high-resolution displays, autonomous driving, AV/VR applications, and industrial IoT (IIoT).
The two firms will target talent with expertise or experience in the fields of software and hardware integration, artificial intelligence (AI), big data analysis and other forward-looking applications, with the former looking to hire 1,000 engineers and the latter 500, according to industry sources.
In particular, AUO said that it will recruit talent for electronic/electrical engineering, IC design, firmware/hardware design, big data analysis, software/system development, processing equipment and optoelectronics R&D in order to cope with the rising popularity of IoT applications and smart manufacturing.
Innolux said it is creating a platform to incubate innovative businesses and to cultivate key talent needed for these new businesses. The company has already initiated a “Tulip” program to encourage employees stationed in Europe to access and learn new technologies related to electric vehicles and 5G/IoT integration.
Innolux said it offers starting monthly salaries of NT$38,000 (US$1,231) for holders of bachelor’s degrees, NT$48,000 for ones with master’s degrees and NT$61,000 for those with doctoral degrees.―Digitimes
