PCB maker Apex International has reported record high revenues and profit for the second quarter of 2019, buoyed by an influx of new orders and effective production cost control.
Net profit increased 85.3% on year to NT$265 million (US$8.434 million) in the second quarter, during which revenues were up 1.5% on year to NT$2.454 billion.
The company expects its sales to remain robust in the third quarter as a seasonal uptick in demand for display products, particularly for 8K TV and automotive panels, will spur shipments of multilayer boards.
With its main production site in Thailand, the company is currently in talks with a number of clients for switching their orders from China to Thailand, and the windfall orders are expected to contribute significantly to its revenue growth in 2020, the company said.
Despite increasing orders, the company said it will begin a new phase of expansion project in the third quarter of 2019, which is slated for completion in the second half of 2021.
The company currently has a production capacity of 4.8 million square meters of PCBs a month.
It also reported July revenues of NT$1.163 million, up 5.73% on year. Year-to-date revenues totaled NT$6.465 billion, increasing 8.91% on year.―Digitimes
